Thinking Hats

 Hello blogging world, In the past two weeks we summarised and answered questions about the Gala day. We used  the six thinking hats to write our feelings and opinions about the day.  The six thinking hats include the colours white, yellow, red, black, green and blue. We used them to describe our emotions using words.  This is my piece of work I hope you enjoy:

Gala Day!

This term Waikowhai Primary School had the challenge to create something to sell at our School gala day. Our classroom (waitemata) decided to make homemade organic soap for the day. We decided to make soap for the day because we thought the soap at the supermarket had chemicals and wasn't safe for our body. So we made organic soap that has no chemicals. During this process we needed to make the packaging to sell our soap in, labels to show what type of soap it is, and our own signs to go around the school to advertise what we were selling. While making the soap we were able to create different scents, colours, and shapes. The way we packaged the soap is we put some of the soap bars in a shell, rapped a ribbon over it decided to sell them like that. The ingredients we used were clear glycerine soap, pure goats milk, Shea butter and triple butter. Some of them didn't end out how we wanted so we are going to sell them as seconds. We also had to make the prices of the soap for how much they costs. The seconds are gonna cost 1$ less than the good soap.  This is some of our finished products... I Hope You Enjoyed.

My Novel study (the book I read was dunger)

This term Te waka ako were working on a book review. We got handed a novel book from the teacher, and we have been reading it for the past 3 weeks. Te waka ako read the book and retold the main points in the story. Each slide had a different task to complete E.g: main characters opinion map.

The first slide Is about the plot and story line. after we read the book we summarised and retold the story from beginning middle and end. The second slide is about the narrative structure.  we had to
re-tell the problems and how they fixed the problems they had. Then after that we had to describe what the minor and main characters looked like acted like and what their personality traits are. In the fourth  slide we had to write our favourite moments and explain the reason why it was. The sixth slide is an opinion map we had to write what our opinions were on the book. the seventh slide is the six thinking hats we wrote the positive, negative, interesting, how they feel, what was creative, what i should do now. On the eighth slide we used the game tinker cad to create the setting of the book this is a picture of the setting I made. in the ninth slide we did. we had a questioning map and we  asked questions about the book and what we wondered. on the final slide we finished was the vocabulary slide. We wrote how many words we didn't know and fin out what it means. you should check out this book because it was a really interesting book.

                         

Novel Study

This week we were working on a novel study. The novel I was working on is Dunger. On the first activity you see is an opinion map, I wrote all the positive, negative and interesting things about what happened in the book. In the second picture you see is the thinking hats. I predicted how the characters are feeling and thinking and in the third picture you see is an activity where you have to describe the main and minor characters in the book. I found these activities quite challenging because of the amount of time we had but I managed to finish.

Magical World of Crazy Science

Today we had two amazing people that came to our school to show us amazing science tricks and experiments. My favorite part was when all the kids started getting excited about all the crazy tricks they had performed. I found the first trick they performed really interesting. He held two giant rings in his hands and he clashed them together without us noticing how it happened and then pulled the rings apart like nothing ever happened. I learnt that bubbles are the thinnest objects in the whole world that can seen by a human eye. I wonder how scientist know everything about science and why they think its interesting to learn about.  I also wonder how a scientist can also present magic tricks.  I think what I would do now is try theses amazing science experiments out at home (With parents supervision) to see how my parents and family will react to them. here is a video about the giant bubbles being formed. Animation slides

Hello, Last term we decided to make some animation slides. An animation slide is something where you can use google slides to make a small story or a little cartoon about something you're interested in. This animation slide can also be describe as stop motion. I chose the sunset because I thought it would be interesting to see how I will blend all the colours together. I thought this task was very fun to work on. I think it wasn't much of a challenge but it does take time to duplicate them. In the future I think I would be happy to make another one.

Camp...

Last week on Tuesday we went to camp and came back on Friday night. during camp It was so fun I learnt how to snowboard. while I was on the mountain I was mostly on my bottom. My favorite part in camp was when we got up in the morning and started to get ready for the mountain because I was so excited. This is my camp slide I hope you enjoy.   feel free to comment

Student led toolkits

On Thursday a small group from Waikowhai Primary School was chosen to represent our school for student led tool kits. We picked two sessions we wanted to play and students from other schools taught us how to use/play these games. The first session I was in incredibox. Incredibox box is an incredible game to play it is used to make cool beats and music, with this game you can also record music and download it to your drive. After that we went to our second session CODETASTRA-PHE. This game was about how to animate your name. We had to use a lot of different techniques for this to be able to work. By the end of this I finally was able to animate my name. The lunch bell rang and it was time for lunch, we played for about 45 minutes. in those 45 minutes I saw my cousin. Finally lunch had finished and we had a problem solving competition. Waikowhai Primary School Came second for most creative tower. the problem solving competition was... They had to make a tower that is 10cm long and it has to be able to hold 100 grams of weight. We finally finished and it was time to say goodbye. Waikowhai said thank you and we left back to school. fun building

This week I created a small model tent as a math task. To make this we used modeling clay / Plasticine toothpicks and a small piece of cardboard. While making this model I made three different shapes a rectangle,square and a cube. Some of the problems I had was it kept collapsing because of all the movement, weight and pressure being put on it. I Learnt that less clay can go a long way because it's a very thick texture. The good thing about this task was it helped me to find different techniques to use while building. This is my work, I hope you enjoy. Blog you later.

Overall I  think the process of this task was a little bit hard but it gave me a challenge. Half way through i was so close to being finished but it collapsed because the pressure i was putting on it.

My Narrative Writting

   This term we created a piece of creative writing about any topic we liked.  I chose the story to be a little bit scary. ( SPOILERS) my favorite part is at the end. I decided to publish this piece of work because I thought it's ready to publish and I thought people would like to see some creativity. One morning on a dark and dreary day where the crows were croaking and the trees were rumbling. There was a small town with a big red brick house, with two members that lived in it, Mary and her Mum. However on this day Mary was all alone. Mary's Mum calls and tells her I miss you so much. Mary sent a photo of her for her Mum but when Mary looked back at the photo she noticed someone behind her....

Once the photo was sent to her Mum, she told Mary to quickly get out of the. Mary’s mum told her there was a tall scary looking figure standing behind her.  Mary had no idea what was going on, her doors are closed and locked and the windows are shut,plus she would have been able to hear something break in. Mary tried to unlock the doors but somehow the keys to the door are gone they disappeared off her desk. something freaky is going on said Mary. Mary tried to open the windows but they were all jammed. What do I do now…

Grandma call Grandma she lives closest to us. Mary told Mum she came over to tell me she's going on a beautiful holiday. Mary locked herself in in the closet and was as quiet as possible while mum comes home. 10 MINUTES LATER..  Sorry I might be late said mum, the traffic is major. Grab your phone and call the police. Aah! Mary’s phone started ringing. Mary picks up her phone with shaky and sweaty palms she decided to answer the phone and...

Hi Mary its Mum, I just got a call from my boss I have to go to work otherwise I'm fired. Go to your fathers house I will be there just in time for dinner. !6 palm street. Mary has never heard of this street before but she went there anyways. Cant wait said Mum. Mary said Mum how do I know this is you?

Passion Project

This term we created a passion project. A passion project is about what your passionate about or what you think is interesting. I created a passion project about Anzac day because My grandpa has been telling me stories about his farther and I though they were interesting. My Personal Response (Painting the town)

This week for reading our teacher gave us a task to make a personal response about the text we read called Painting the Town written by Renata Hopkins. My Infographic

 Hello viewers This week For reading I made an info graphic on the news article Rocket lab soars into space. An info graphic is an even amount of writing and pictures or symbols to represent the  text you are talking about.  This is my work Enjoy :)  

while I was creating this work I learnt that an info graphic has to have symbols or pictures to make the text even more interesting to read. I thought this was an easy task to work with but took quite a long time to put together

 On Monday rooms 7,8 and 9 had an opening ceremony of our new classrooms. We were all very excited for this moment to happen. We decided to share some information about the move and photos on the day we were moving in. This is my work And feel free to comment.

On Monday the whole senior syndicate moved to other class rooms as one whole class. I thought this was a fantastic Idea because we can all share Ideas and participate all as one

Some of the good things are that the whole senior senior syndicate is a full class and all the classes are very colourful.  I also like how we can work with different buddies.  And especially bigger space to work in.                              

some of the negative things are wearing no shoes in the class rooms and it is a little little bit more loud and everyone quickly rushes to the furniture and fight over them.

When I moved into this new classroom I felt really comfortable and excited to be in a new space. I think the different colours in each classroom was really was creative because it gave a colourful vibe to each room. the best part is, in one classroom it has a green screen all around the wall I think that is pretty cool. Now the only other thing we need to do is Follow the syndicate treaty carefully. Listen to all the teachers while they are talking and respect each other how you want to be treated.

                     

                           

digital footprint learning

Today we had a new cyber smart teacher and his name was Jerad. He came in to tell Room 7 about digital foot prints. Jerad made a task for each of us to complete. The task we had was to pick a favourite blog and type what groups of people would visit this blog. This is my work.
